Weekly Blog Post 4 – 02/27
This week I have further developed my calligram. I created an even larger version of my sketch to make sure it is big enough to make edits on on Adobe Illustrator. I also decided to go over it even darker than it was before to make it easier for me to see the outlines on the software.
I was struggling for a while to download Adobe Illustrator onto my laptop. For some reason it kept saying it was unable to download because there was not enough storage. I tried clearing out a ton of my story space and it still just refused to download. I realised yesterday that I could just use it on google chrome, however my image is uploaded onto the file in very low quality and is very pixelated. I am not too sure how to fix this yet, but I can still live with it, and it does not cause me too much of an issue.
I struggled a bit with how different Adobe Illustrator looks on my laptop compared to how I am used to using it on one of those big computers in the computer lab and our classroom. I still need to work on figuring out how to contortion my text to fit it onto the shapes on my face, but I think I will visit one of the office hours tomorrow to go over it. I cannot find the mesh tool or object on top tool. It was recommended that we start taking notes in classes, so yesterday when we were going over how to fit the text onto our faces, I pulled up a document and started to write down what we are supposed to do step by step. This has definitely helped me today when I was working on it, however I just do not really understand how to work the text feature. It won’t really do what I am asking at all, and it gets pretty frustrating.
I still do not have full access to the Dropbox folders so I am not able to turn anything in, so this weekly blog will only be uploaded to my blog page. I have also not been able to turn in any of the other exercise assignments. However, it may because I am not on the email list or something like that. When I go to office hours tomorrow, I will be sure to address this again to see if I can get added.
I am excited to see what the next project will bring, but I will admit I am excited to move onto the next section of this class that is not drawing-heavy. I get so easily frustrated with the software and it feels like something always goes wrong for me. I am interested in the photo shop setting and how to manipulate images and things like that. So far, this semester has been pretty good and is going better than I thought it would when I began with this class
